My Story

Being a doula is my dream come true. I’ve wanted to help mamas deliver babies since I was a child. Life had different plans. I became a Home Economics, child development and a special education teacher. This was a blessing for 15 years. After receiving my master’s degree, I’ve spent the past 12 years being a school counselor. I retired early from education to follow up with my childhood dream of helping deliver babies.

My Family

I have been married to my sweetheart, Brad for 30 years!!! We have 3 amazing children with 3 amazing spouses. Being Lolli and Pops to our 4 grandbabies is the joy of our lives. We are looking forward to many more!!!

"If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it."
~ John H. Kennell, MD

A birth doula provides continual, unwavering support to women during childbirth. She works in a cooperative with the entire family and birth team. She is not meant to take the place of a partner, or medical professional, but works alongside them to attend to the emotional support and physical comfort of the birthing woman. A doula is well trained in comfort measures for the laboring woman, and is also empathetic, which combined, can help to create a calmer birthing experience. Having a birth doula has shown to reduce negative outcomes and unwanted interventions, and commonly promotes a more favorable, satisfying birthing experience.
